S.C. Board of Health and Environmental Control to conduct national search for new DHEC director

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Board of Health and Environmental Control announced today the beginning of a national search for a new director of the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).

It is the board's intent to submit a candidate to the governor for approval in early 2018, with the goal of allowing the confirmation process to be completed during the next legislative session.

"The board is committed to finding a candidate who can continue the positive energy the Department has built over the last several years in promoting and protecting the health and environment of South Carolina," said Board Chairman Allen Amsler. "We have engaged a search firm to help identify qualified candidates and will select the strongest candidate to continue to build on DHEC's momentum and position the department for future success."

The board has engaged South Carolina based executive search firm Find Great People, LLC (FGP) to conduct the search. FGP will review applications, conduct interviews, and help bring finalists to the board for consideration.

The position for agency director will be posted online today at: http://www.jobs.sc.gov/.
