Reporting Recycling Efforts

Download FY23 Business Recycling Survey Here

Reporting your recycling efforts and data is an important part of the Smart Business Recycling Program. Reporting helps see the big picture of recycling in the state and reach our recycling goals. Data is included confidentially by county and material type in the annual reports.

How to Report

The Smart Business Recycling Program offers an online reporting system that is free and confidential called Re-TRAC Connect. Reporting is done by fiscal year so keep track of your recycling activities from July 1 to June 30 unless discussed otherwise. Watch the webinar below for reporting information and a tutorial on how to register and use Re-TRAC Connect.

In addition, reporting can be submitted through the PDF form available above. Complete the form and submit to smartbiz@dhec.sc.gov.

Benefits of tracking and reporting

  • Helping recycling businesses and markets grow - helping create jobs and contribute to the state's economy;
  • Assisting in the effective and efficient solid waste management decision-making in the state;
  • Recognizing businesses for their waste reduction and recycling efforts; and
  • Helping South Carolina reach its goals of 50 percent municipal solid waste recycled by 2030 and 3.25 pounds of waste per person per day.
