February 28, 2020 modifications to the conditions of Prisma Health–Midlands’ Certificate of Public Advantage (COPA)

 

On December 2019, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) received a notice of proposed transaction from Prisma Health—Midlands (PHM) to acquire assets currently owned by LifePoint Health (LPNT) under its existing Certificate of Public Advantage (COPA).

On February 2020, PHM provided DHEC with additional documentation in support of the transaction. In accordance with applicable regulations, DHEC conducted another review of PHM’s COPA and updated the COPA’s conditions to allow for the addition of LPNT assets in Richland, Fairfield, and Kershaw counties.

These updated conditions were delivered to PHM on February 28, 2020.  A link to the February 28, 2020, updated conditions appears below.
