Alex Singleton, a native of Summerville, earned a Bachelor of Science from Clemson University and a Master of Business Administration from Charleston Southern University.

A fiber specialist at International Paper’s Port Wentworth Cellulose Fibers Mill, Singleton is responsible for overall management of wood purchases and deliveries into the Port Wentworth Mill and Oliver Wet Storage yard. He oversees Port Wentworth’s onsite chip mill and also serves as a member of Port Wentworth’s Mill Lead Team. He's been in the forest products industry for 29 years and is a South Carolina Registered Forester.

Singleton has been a champion of minority natural resources and land management education programs and started a minority career camp for MeadWestvaco that engaged more than 100 students from the Summerville area with careers in natural resources. Prior to his service on the S.C. Board of Health and Environmental Control, he was a former board chair for the Center for Heirs Property Preservation.

Singleton’s civic involvement includes the Center for Heirs Property Protection, Sand Hill Community Association, Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Society of American Foresters, Dorchester County Palmetto Leadership Class of 1997, and Colleton County Leadership Class of 1999. He is a recipient of the 2001 S.C. Wildlife Federation Conservation Award for Education, FRA’s 2002 Forestry Activist Award, and Weyerhaeuser’s Thelma L. Bryant Diversity Award.

He represents the 6th Congressional District, where he resides with his two children and attends Canaan United Methodist Church in Ridgeville. He was appointed by S.C. Governor Henry McMaster.
