Board Member - Charles M. Joye II, P.E.

Charles M. Joye II is founding principal and CEO of Design South Professionals Inc., a 25-person engineering and architectural firm in Anderson which last year merged with the Ardurra Group, a national firm of 450. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Master of Engineering degree from Clemson University.

Joye is an active member of South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers. Throughout his more than 40 years as a private practice civil engineer, he has worked on a diverse range of projects, among them, wastewater transportation and treatment facilities, water supply, treatment and distribution projects, stormwater management infrastructure, and building systems. 

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Joye serves as a member of the Salvation Army of Anderson County Advisory Board and Clemson University Civil Engineering Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Anderson.

Prior to this appointment, Joye served on the S.C. Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors. He served for 12 years as national director of the American Council of Engineering Companies. He was also named Engineer of the Year in 2002 by the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers. 

Joye represents Congressional District 3 on the Board. This is his second term appointed to the Board. He was recently reappointed by Governor Henry McMaster and previously was appointed by former Governor Nikki Haley.
