Local Health Notes
The mission of the Region 1 Public Health Office is to promote, protect and improve the health and environment for the citizens of Abbeville, Anderson, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Oconee and Saluda Counties. To accomplish these goals we employ staff with a wide variety of professional skills, experiences, and tools. We use research tools and data that let us know how the health of the residents of the two counties compares to the state and to the country. This information then lets us, and you, know which areas of health need improvement or where we are doing well.
Customer satisfaction surveys reveal that the Region 1 Public Health Office has excellent staff members who provide outstanding customer service, use their resources to the fullest extent, and constantly look for better ways to address community needs. Our approach to public health is broad-based and focuses on continuous quality improvement, population-based services, and shared decision-making. Region 1 enjoys a working relationship with the community which promotes partnering, pooling of resources, and development of new ideas and initiatives.
