Developed by the University of Washington, School of Dentistry, this guide is for clinicians who intend to implement effective preventive and early intervention oral health therapies for infants and toddlers.
- A Health Professional’s Guide to Pediatric Oral Health Management
The Pediatric Oral Health Management program provides a series of 7 self-contained online modules designed to assist health professionals in managing the oral health of infants and young children.
- Online Oral Health Education for Primary Health Care Professionals
Topics include: dental caries, periodontal diseases, oral and pharyngeal cancer and tobacco cessation.
- Nutrition and Oral Health for Children
The Pacific West MCH Distance Learning Network’s curriculum designed for health care professionals who wish to learn more about nutrition and oral health for children, including children with special health care needs.
- Dental Health Screening and Fluoride Varnish Application Training
The training is designed to provide the knowledge and tools needed to provide oral health prevention education and treatment to children at risk for tooth decay. The course is presented in the following 8 modules: Introduction and Overview, Etiology and Prevention of Dental Caries, Strategies for Prevention, Dental Health Screening, "Lift the Lip" Examination, and Fluoride Varnish.
- Smiles for Life-National Oral Health Curriculum for Family Medicine Education
Smiles for Life is a comprehensive oral health curriculum for physicians developed by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group on Oral Health. It is designed to be implemented in residencies or medical school pre-doctoral programs.
- Oral Health Risk Assessment Training for Pediatricians and other Health Professionals--American Academy of Pediatrics
This training is designed to support pediatricians and child health providers as they implement oral health risk assessments during well-child visits.
- UConn Health Center's Oral Health Web-based Curriculum
The UConn Health Center's Oral Health Web site is designed to improve the oral health of infants and children through the improvement of effective oral health education of physicians, residents, and medical students.
- Open Wide--Oral Health Training for Health Professionals
A series of 4 self-contained online modules designed to help health and early childhood professionals working in community settings (eg, Head Start and WIC staff) promote oral health in the course of promoting general health for infants, children, and their families.
- Overview of Supplemental Oral Health Curricula for Preschool, Kindergarten, 2nd and 7th Grade (pdf)
These guides contain lessons that encourage students to take care of their teeth as well as teach them oral health concepts. Each of the student activities in the Oral Health Supplemental Resource Guides includes a list of needed materials, background information, step-by-step instructions and suggested extension and evaluation activities. These guides are primarily designed for classroom use.

- Afterschoolers Oral Health Resource Guide (pdf)
This resource guide has activities designed for students in grades 1-5 participating in Afterschool programs. The “lessons” involve the elementary age child in hands-on activities that will acquaint them with taking care of their teeth and understanding why that is important; teaching them to like and to choose healthy foods; and encouraging them keep their smiles safe and injury free. This guide is designed for use in childcare centers and schools with afterschool programs. It would also be a good resource for homeschool associations and parent and community outreach programs.

An oral health curriculum for preschool through grade eight students offering flexible, modular lesson plans, support materials, hands-on classroom demonstrations, student activity sheets, and suggestions for further oral health activities.

- Flora and Floppy Go to the Dentist Coloring and Activity Booklet and Interactive Video
This lighthearted story details Flora’s return visit to the dentist along with her playful rabbit, Floppy. It helps young children understand what takes place at the dentist and helps them see their dentist as their friend. The coloring and activity booklet is a good resource for early readers.
