Camp Programs

picture of campCamp Burnt Gin operates four, seven day sessions for 7 through 15 year olds and two six day session for teenagers. Each session, a theme is selected and the camp program is built around this theme. Cabin names, meals, evening programs and daily activities are planned in keeping with the theme. Examples of session themes include: Around the World in 8 Days; The Wild Wild West; Everyday is a Holiday; The Wonderful World of Disney; and Vacation Land USA.

Instructional swimming, arts and crafts, sports and games, fine arts and nature activities are offered to all campers during the morning activity periods. Emphasis is placed on adapting the activities so that every child can participate regardless of their physical limitations. Afternoons are spent swimming, boating and playing in the recreation hall.

Special guest performers, talent shows, skits, carnivals, treasure hunts and dances are the favorite evening programs.

Each cabin group is given the opportunity to camp out. They cook their dinner over the fire, roast marshmallows, sing songs and sleep in tents. Although the campsite is only about 500 yards from the main camp, it is surrounded by tall pines and the children have the feeling they are camping in the wilderness. It is all a part of providing our campers a typical summer camp experience.
