What is sustainability?
The most common definition for sustainability is “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
Many progressive companies are adapting strategies that focus on increasing productivity and efficiency by creating better products and processes that use fewer materials or resources, are less harmful to the environment and are exceedingly more profitable.
Who is actively integrating sustainable practices into their strategic business plans? Companies include:
- BMW;
- Milliken;
- Duke Energy; and
- Caterpillar.
