New Member Application Instructions
  Please provide the following information as  an attachment to an email to steagacl@dhec.sc.gov AND complete the electronic application form:
   
  1. Briefly describe your company or facility  and the nature of your business. Relevant information includes products or services, general processes used, general description of raw materials used, wastes  generated, size and nature of workforce and any  environmental considerations particular to your site  (e.g. located adjacent to river floodplain, etc.).
  2. Briefly describe the company or facility's compliance record during the past five years noting such  things as number of exceedances, major violations, fines  (dollar amounts), civil penalties and criminal penalties.  Also include environmental improvements made during the five-year period and any additional steps taken to prevent future noncompliance. Provide a list of operating  permits including permit numbers and the issuing agencies.
  3. If membership is applied for under Section A of the  Program Requirements, attach documentation from another  environmental program as evidence of commitment to  environmental excellence and eligibility for the  Environmental Excellence Program. Documentation of registration, certification or active membership must  demonstrate that you are a member in good standing. (Provide enough information about the program so that  consistency with the Program Requirements can be  determined.)  If membership is applied for under  Section B of the Program Requirements, attach an Environmental Excellence Plan. 
  4. Briefly describe any existing site contamination and the actions taken to ensure its containment.   Describe the minimum required actions to remediate.   If no contamination exists please state that fact.
  5. Applications should be printed on recycled paper and double-sided.

The  Environmental Excellence Program Advisory Committee will  review the application and may, at its discretion,  request additional information or a site visit as part of the review process. The applicant will be notified as  promptly as possible concerning an invitation to join the program.

Membership is renewable every three years upon re-certification or  updating of application. The Program Advisory Committee  is responsible for ensuring that members are making continuous improvements towards their stated goals and objectives.
