Shoreline Change Advisory Committee Meeting

CHARLESTON – The Shoreline Change Advisory Committee will meet March 31 at 9:30 a.m. at the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies located at 1270 Atlantic Avenue in Conway, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.
The committee will receive presentations and discuss issues related to beachfront management regulations and beach renourishment policies.
The committee will hold a one-hour public comment period beginning at 4 p.m. for citizens to express their concerns and ideas. Written comments will also be accepted throughout the committee process and should be submitted to Braxton Davis at DHEC’s Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management via email to: davisbc@dhec.sc.gov.
Organized by DHEC, the Shoreline Change Advisory Committee is comprised of a broad cross-section of stakeholders including scientists, coastal managers, municipal officials, developers, conservationists and legal professionals. The committee’s purpose is to organize existing shoreline research, identify research priority needs and consider policy-related issues concerning the future management of South Carolina’s estuarine and beachfront shorelines.
