FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 12, 2008
KILL DATE: May 1, 2008

Announcer:

Every year in South Carolina, as many as 400 people must take preventive medical treatment because they were bitten or scratched by a pet or wild animal confirmed or suspected of having rabies. There is no cure for rabies, and anyone who gets the disease dies.

You can protect yourself, your family and neighbors by having your pet vaccinated against rabies at special clinics during April. The shots cost three dollars.

If your pet has not been vaccinated against rabies, call your county health department or veterinarian about a clinic near you.

This message is brought to you by DHEC.
