Shoreline Change Advisory Committee Meeting

CHARLESTON - The Shoreline Change Advisory Committee will meet on Feb. 21 in Bluffton, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.
The committee will receive presentations and conduct facilitated discussions on issues related to the beachfront management regulations and shoreline retreat policy.
The committee will set aside a one-hour public comment period beginning at 4:30 p.m. for citizens to express their concerns and ideas. Written comments will be accepted throughout the committee process and can be submitted to Braxton Davis at DHECs Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management by e-mailing davisbc@dhec.sc.gov.
Organized by DHEC, the Shoreline Change Advisory Committee is composed of a broad cross-section of stakeholders including scientists, coastal managers, municipal officials, developers, conservationists and legal professionals. The committees purpose is to organize existing shoreline research, identify research priority needs and consider policy-related issues concerning management of South Carolinas estuarine and beachfront shorelines.
