Hearing aid specialist application deadline set
COLUMBIA – The deadline for applying to take the qualifying examinations for licensure as a hearing aid specialist is Feb. 15, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.
"People who want to take the exam must submit to submit an application and fee to DHEC no later than Feb. 15," said Tony R. Navarro, of DHEC's Division of Health Licensing. "The written portion of the examination will be administered on March 11. Those who pass the written examination will be given the practical portion of the exam on May 13."
Navarro said that applicants must pass both portions to qualify for licensure and that anyone, including temporary permit holders or anyone who previously took the examination and failed to pass, may apply to take the examination.
"Anyone who fits and sells hearing aids, unless they are a South Carolina licensed medical doctor or audiologist, must possess a current hearing aid specialist license or temporary permit issued by DHEC," Navarro said.
