Community meeting set

COLUMBIA – A meeting will be held July 12 at Hannah Pamplico High School in Florence County for the public to learn more about a permit application filed by Santee Cooper to construct a new power generation facility at Kingsburg, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported today.

“This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions about the application and the process we use in deciding whether to issue environmental permits for a proposed facility such as this,” said Myra Reece, chief of DHEC’s Bureau of Air Quality. “While not part of the formal hearing process, we want this meeting to be an opportunity in an informal setting for people to provide information and input to us as well as get answers to their questions and concerns.”

Reece said the meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Hannah-Pamplico High School, located at 2055 South Pamplico Highway in Pamplico. The session will start with brief opening remarks followed by questions.
