R. Kenyon Wells, of Lexington, is president and owner of R. Kenyon Wells & Associates Inc., a distributor of medical supplies and cardiac devices. The company operates in North Carolina, South Carolina and parts of Georgia.
A 1970 graduate of David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, Wells holds a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Early in his career, Wells worked as the Raleigh/Durham district manager for Baxter Travenol Laboratories Inc., a manufacturer of hospital equipment. He moved to Columbia in 1975 to become an independent distributor for United States Surgical Corporation, a pioneer producer of surgical staples. Wells later worked as an independent distributor for Intermedics Inc., a Texas-based manufacturer of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators.
In 1984, Wells acquired the North Carolina and South Carolina distributorship for pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators made by Biotronik Inc. and launched his company.
Wells represents Congressional District 2 on the DHEC board. He was appointed by S.C. Governor Nikki R. Haley.
